How to Avoid Tagging/Marked Indecent Link on Facebook

We all know that Facebook is one of the biggest social media currently available. Mark Zuckerberg's social media has a total of hundreds of millions of users. Of these many users, Facebook also seems not to be free from mistakes. Recently, many Facebook users have complained about being tagged with porn links from unknown accounts. Then, how to solve it?

Cybersecurity expert from Vaccicom Alfons Tanujaya provides solutions and views regarding this matter. According to Alfons, this is not a phishing case. However, this is suspected as an ad click trap mode. "(This porn link tag) is not phishing. Phishing is an activity to falsify sites to get data. It is possible that the spreader wants to benefit from clicking ads on porn sites," said Alfons. So, what is the actual modus operandi of the perpetrator?

This mode uses Facebook's initial or default settings, which allow everyone to tag a Facebook account even if they don't know it," said Alfons. Alfons has been monitoring all day, Facebook seems to have removed these annoying content. Facebook seems to be quick to respond to complaints from users who are annoyed. With this incident, Alfons said that the solution and the way to prevent it from being tagged with porn links was to change the tagging settings on their respective Facebook accounts.

"In this initial setting, it is Disabled. The correct and safe setting should be Active. So the next time it is tagged, it must be reviewed by the account owner. If the account owner does not agree, then the tag can be deleted," he concluded.

You can use tag review to approve or ignore tags that people add to your posts. If you turn on flag review, when someone tags your post, it won't appear until you approve.

Two ways to prevent tagging or being linked by people on Facebook

1. Setting in PC or laptop platform

Here's the steps:
  • First, click on Settings and Privacy
  • Then click Settings
  • Click the Profile and Tagging menu.
  • Next there are some sections that need to be edited, pay attention to the ones marked in red in the screenshot below.
  • Let's start with who can post content on your profile, click Edit then change the option to Only me. This means that only you can post content on your profile timeline.
  • Next, switch to the Reviewing settings. Tap Edit then change the option from Off to On. This feature makes all the content that you tagged will not automatically appear on the timeline, but must go through a manual approval process by you.
  • Continue the same steps in the bottom option. A feature that changes the visibility of content where you are tagged by friends.

2. Settings from Android or iOS App

As for setting up using a cellphone, actually the steps are almost the same but the interface is slightly different.
  • Run the Facebook application on your device, then tap the settings menu at the top right then tap Settings & Privacy or Settings & Privacy.
  • Next tap Settings or Settings
  • Then tap Profile and Tagging or Profile and Tagging.
  • Same as on PC, tap who can post on profile and change the setting to Only Me.
  • In the Reviewing or Reviewing menu, enable the review tag feature so that anyone who tagged you can't show content to your profile.

This is a summary of tips and tutorials on how to prevent tagging/signed links by other people on Facebook.

The tutorial above doesn't 100% prevent you from being marked by friends on Facebook, but at least you can filter out the content that appears on the timeline. If you don't do this, all types of content including adult content will appear and will certainly damage your reputation.
